EMIFPA Fire Info - June 2, 2016: Small fire in Sandias

06/02/2016 1:22 PM | Nancy Carpenter

EM Residents,

Sandia Ranger District FMO Matt Rau has informed us that there is a small fire (1/2 acre estimated) burning on Sandia Peak. The fire is located on the west side of Sandia Peak, approximately 1/2 mile south of the Tram, and approximately 500 feet below the ridge. The fire is in a steep, rugged area of the mountain, and at this time the Sandia Ranger District wildfire personnel are monitoring the fire. It is unfeasible to send personnel into this area due to the high level of danger, but as stated, they are actively monitoring this fire. We will send to you all updates we receive as we receive them.

EMIFPA always encourages you to stay engaged and prepared for the potential wildfire disaster in our homeland. Remember, if you see or smell smoke, always call 911 immediately. Report it, don't ignore it!!
