Ah, Spring. Snow on Monday, "fire weather watch" conditions forecast for Friday. From one extreme to the other. The complete forecast discussion is here: http://forecast.weather.gov/wwamap/wwatxtget.php?cwa=abq&wwa=fire%20weather%20watch. A reminder - "fire weather watch" forecasts are early warning "red flag" predictions, the only difference is the level of forecast confidence. Keep your eyes on this as we get closer to Friday.
We recommend that you bookmark the following two web sites: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/abq/, and http://www.srh.noaa.gov/abq/?n=forecasts-fireweather-dss. These two sites should be reviewed daily as you prepare for work. They are invaluable planning tools, and allow you to keep your situational awareness focused.
Looking forward to this one!! The Sandia Park Scenic Byway Firewise Community is hosting a Fire Fair to help EM residents be prepared for wildfire. This will be this Saturday, May 7th, from 10:30 -12 noon at the Vista Grande Community Center. San Antonito first grade teacher Amy Chevalier will be leading a group of first graders from the Elementary School in a special presentation on helpful fire safety tips. Bring the family - there will be a forestry craft table for the kids. The craft table is a great way to keep the youngsters entertained while you gather valuable wildfire safety information. Everyone is welcome!
EMIFPA always encourages you to stay engaged and prepared for the potential wildfire disaster in our homeland. Remember, if you see or smell smoke, always call 911 immediately. Report it, don't ignore it!!
